Competition in the food delivery market is continuing to thrive as major players including Uber (Uber Eats), Postmates and Grubhub continue to grow.
The 2019 SpendSmart™ Year in Review Report from Certify, which highlights trends in business travel spend based on its users' receipts and expenses submissions, noted that the food delivery category saw a 86% year-over-year increase in transactions. According to the report, DoorDash overtook Grubhub as the most expensed food delivery service with 29.5% of all transactions, followed by Grubhub with 27.3% of transactions, Uber Eats with 25.6%, 12.3% for Postmates, and 5.3% for Seamless. These services could have been used by workers while traveling or from their offices, the press release announcing the release of the report notes.
