Fast Company recently profiled a new company called Bodega, a startup that wants to install "unmanned pantry boxes" or vending machines where consumers live. The large boxes contain everyday items, are unlocked with an app and a camera monitors what you remove, charging it to your credit card. The software also sends out a message when it needs restocking and "learns" about the preferences at a location. The founders, both former Google employees unveiled 50 locations where these machines will be placed on the West Coast, going national soon afterwards. By 2018, the company hopes to have a thousand, reports the source.
Editor's Insight: This is a new age for vending machines. CVS is adding them and now ex-Google employees. Is reaching more at-home and on-the-go people where we should be headed too?
