JDE Peet's said it has agreed to acquire Campos Coffee, an Australia-based specialty coffee company, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction, expected close in July, is subject to limited pre-closing conditions.
Campos Coffee is available in more than 600 cafés and in multiple channels including direct-to-consumer, retail and its own flagship cafés. The brand will complement JDE Peet's Australian coffee business in both the out-of-home and retail segments.
JDE Peet's is owned by JAB Holdings. Its brands include Peet's Coffee, Douwe Egberts and Jacobs, among others. JDE Peet’s says it's the world’s leading pure-play coffee and tea company, serving approximately 4,500 cups of coffee or tea every second. In 2020, it reported 6.5 billion euros in sales.
Campos Coffee was founded by Will Young in 2002 with a single café and roaster in Newtown, Sydney. Today it is one of Australia’s most respected specialty coffee roasters and is brewed in over 600 cafés nationwide under the Campos and Sacred Grounds brands. In 2020, Campos generated revenues of approximately $50 million AUD. The company's North America stores were recently closes.
