The new lines include sweeteners made with reduced-calorie coconut and date sugars, stevia leaf extract, monk fruit extract, allulose and inulin. None of the products use sugar replacements such as erythritol.

Wisdom Natural Brands has expanded its SweetLeaf product line, adding two zero-calorie sweeteners and three 50% reduced-calorie sugars. The products reportedly taste, bake, brown and caramelize like sugar and offer options for consumers seeking natural sugar alternatives. None of the products use sugar replacements such as erythritol.

They include:

  • SweetLeaf Indulge is a zero-calorie all-purpose sweetener available in granular and powder form. It is made with natural ingredients such as allulose, inulin, stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract. They are formulated to be a 1:1 sugar replacement that, like sugar, browns when baking.
  • SweetLeaf 50% reduced calorie sugar substitute includes a version made from coconut and date sugars as well as a cane sugar option. The granular sugar product is blended with allulose, stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract.

Allulose is a naturally occurring sugar found in foods like raisins, figs and maple syrup. It is useful for baking because it browns and caramelizes like sugar. Inulin is a prebiotic fiber found in plants that has been linked to improved digestive health and blood sugar control. Stevia leaf extract is derived from the leaves of the stevia plant while monk fruit extract is produced from a small round fruit native to Southeast Asia.

"Most natural sugar replacements use only one alternative sweetener, and many consumers are not satisfied with the taste and performance,” said Michael May, CEO of Wisdom Natural Brands. "Our new SweetLeaf Indulge zero-calorie all-purpose sweeteners and 50% reduced-calorie sugars address the issue by combining several natural sweeteners, including both stevia and monk fruit, delivering sugar substitutes with broader appeal."

The new products are sold in 16 oz packages.
