On Monday, 1/22/18, Amazon opened the Amazon Go store in Seattle, WA, the first no checkout grocery store of its kind according to Amazon. With Amazon's Just Walk Out Shopping experience, consumers use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take the products they want, and go. There are no lines and no checkout. Amazon's checkout-free shopping technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them via a virtual cart.
Consumers can purchase ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options made on site and by local kitchens and bakeries as well as essential grocery items such as milk and bread. Amazon Go also offers chef-designed Amazon Meal Kits with ingredients included to create a meal for two in about 30 minutes. To shop at Amazon Go, a consumer needs an Amazon account, the free Amazon Go app – which is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore – and a recent-generation iPhone or Android.
The Amazon Go store is located at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, Wa, near the corner of 7th and Blanchard. It is open from 7AM - 9PM, Monday through Friday.
