Operators Leveraging PayRange Holiday Promotion Acquired New Users, Brought Back Infrequent Users And Increased Sales Overall

PORTLAND, OR (January 31, 2017) – Operators across 300 cities leveraged the PayRange mobile app to run a Holiday Sales promotion driving incremental usage during a month when sales typically slow down amidst holiday parties, cookies, and vacations.

PayRange not only has cashless capabilities, but also the ability to reach users with timed promotions. Participating operators offered users a 25¢ discount when purchasing from their machines. The offer was automatically removed when the user made four purchases, or on December 31, whichever came first. There was no cost to the operator to run the promotion, other than the cost of redeemed discounts.

Once the promotion ended, the data presented some interesting trends when comparing to November usage, also a slower month due to holidays. There was an increase in 4 main areas.

  • ACTIVITY: Participating operators avoided the expected seasonal drop, which can be as much as -38% for non-participating operators.
  • SALES: The promotion gave participating operators a 13% lift in their December sales.
  • SPEND: New users (those that did not purchase in November) spent 8% more.
  • REPEAT PURCHASE: 40% of holiday program users made four purchases or more.

The PayRange Holiday Promotion acquired new users, drove existing users to the vending machines, and encouraged repeat purchase through their PayRange app.
