Philadelphia Neighborhood Becomes Home To Book Vending Machine

April 19, 2016

A non-traditional vending machine has made its way to one Philadelphia, PA, neighborhood and it offers some food for thought. The vending machine located in the Fishtown neighborhood dispenses locally themed fiction and poetry, according to Philly.com. Since 2014 the vending machine has moved locations around Philadelphia and dispensed different works for $2 apiece.

According to the source, Nic Esposito, founder of the Head & the Hand Press, got the idea to use a vending machine after speaking with a relative in the vending industry. Today Esposito’s press has published 22 chapbooks and fills the vending machine each week with stories.
