BAILEYS® Coffee Creamers Survey Reveals Millennials Prefer Flavored Iced Coffee

June 27, 2014

LYNNFIELD, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 24, 2014) - With June heralding the start of summer, BAILEYS® Coffee Creamers, the line of premium non-alcoholic flavored coffee creamers, today announced the results of a new national consumer survey about how Americans prefer to consume the beloved summer iced coffee beverage. Polling more than 2,000 consumers, data revealed that out of all age groups surveyed, millennials more than anyone else prefer flavored iced coffee instead of plain iced coffee. The survey also found that almost half of Americans add flavor to their iced coffee at home. In addition, French vanilla is America's favorite flavor to add to iced coffee (more than half of iced coffee fans).

"As our survey shows, Americans, especially millennials, count adding flavor to their iced coffee a part of their daily routine," said Lynne Bohan, spokesperson for HP Hood LLC, licensee of BAILEYS® Coffee Creamers. "But this routine is anything but boring -- consumers crave the ability to express their unique tastes through flavor variety, which is why we consistently launch new flavors including our new BAILEYS® Coffee Creamers' Limited Edition Sweet Italian Biscotti and Chocolatini!"

Conducted in March 2014 among more than 2,000 adults ages 18 and older, the BAILEYS® Coffee Creamers 2014 Iced Coffee Survey revealed key findings including that among all Americans:

  • Over half (55%) of Americans drink iced coffee, and more than two-in-five (42%) drink iced coffee at home.
  • Nearly two-in-five (37%) Americans add some kind of flavor to the iced coffee they make at home.
    • French vanilla (23%) was the most popular flavor, followed by caramel (16%), hazelnut (15%) and chocolate (13%).
    • 8% of Americans add Irish cream to the iced coffee they make at home.
    • 6% each say they add almond or cinnamon flavor most often, and 2% say they have another flavor they add in.
    •  5% of Americans don't add any kind of flavor most often to their at-home iced coffees.
  • Out of all age groups, millennials (ages 18-34) are most likely to add flavor to their iced coffee. Millennials are also more likely than those age 35+ to drink iced coffee, to drink it at home and to add flavors to it.
