Forty-two fully-automated Fastenal machines were installed at the Redlands, Calif. warehouse, designed to dispense needed materials such as safety gear, fasteners and fittings to 150 employees with a touch of a few buttons, according to The San Bernardino Sun. The machine is expected to save thousands of dollars for the city by eliminating overpurchasing and paper waste.
Each employee has an ID number and password to access the automated supply store. Fastenal monitors the machine and provides the city with a monthly bill. Full article and video.
